Such fabrics are widely used for outdoor clothing such as hiking and warm weather. Gore-Tex is Gore's flagship product. Its scientific name is polytetraflouroethylene (PTFE), and Gore-Tex is a porous film that needs to be pressed into a layer of nylon material before it can be used as a clothing fabric.
